Hi, I’m Abigail, and I’m so glad you’re here. . .
I don’t believe it’s an accident that you are reaching out for help when you are, and I honor your bravery in taking this step. Transformation is a daily practice of resilience and I consider it sacred to be a part of your growth.
My clinical style is centered around YOU: your goals, hopes for the future, and unique needs. I facilitate sessions with the belief that therapy should be more than talk, and I will walk alongside you in all the discomfort, laughter, tears, and “aha” moments. Both grounded and experiential in my approach, I combine honest insight and practical education with lots of space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and sensations via somatic techniques and mindful questions.
For individual trauma survivors, we can utilize a variety of techniques to help you overcome the painful history that lives in your body, shows up in your thoughts, and manifests in your emotions. EMDR, parts work, and somatic techniques can help you reprocess past pain and current triggers while CPT, DBT, and attachment-focused interventions can help you take back control of your mind and ground you in the present.
For couples, I draw from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, and the Gottman approach to equip you with a compassionate understanding of each other’s triggers, wounds, and relational needs and how to address with productive communication. I also use integrative sex therapy techniques to deepen and restore intimacy after trauma or loss.
On a personal Note…
A survivor of own loss and relational traumas, I know firsthand the courage that it takes to come to counseling. My passion as a therapist is to offer the same kind of radically curious that was so helpful in my own journey. I have a deep appreciation for the fact that, as humans, we all experience suffering, and my lived empathy allows me to sit with you in your pain rather than on the sidelines.
Outside of being a counselor, I’m a curious human who loves adventure, storytelling, and relationships. My favorite ways of relating to the world include seeing as much of it as possible (my travel bucket list is a sight to behold); tasting it (baking is a love language and donuts are life); touching it (I am passionate about dance, pilates, and aerial classes); hearing it (spoken word poetry and any music that’s not dubstep is my jam); and smelling it (you may notice lavender as a signature scent in my office).
Like me, you are a unique individual with your own interests, values, purpose, and story. You are worthy of taking up space. Let’s create it together.
