Attachment Therapy FAQ’s

general

  • Going to therapy is a courageous choice that showcases your resilience. It’s invaluable if you want to:

    -Reprocess painful experiences

-Gain traction towards a specific goal

-Explore your thoughts/feelings with an objective sounding board

    -Clarify your sense of self

    -Understand your values and purpose.

It can be especially helpful if you’re struggling with a persistent issue that keeps negatively interfering with your life (for example, anxiety, high reactivity, overthinking, uncontrollable anger, etc.). Another indicator that you might benefit from it is if you want to get to the root of a persistent problem and are not sure how to do that by yourself or have tried before without success.

  • I offer my clients practical tools, strategies, and feedback to help them reach their goals. I don’t give direct life advice because I’m not the person who has to live with the consequences of it (you are!). I believe you are your own best advocate and the expert in your situation. My job is to help you explore your options, act as an objective sounding board, and providing you with different ways of looking at your situation.

  • Yes. Your right to privacy is the most important ethical guideline I can abide by as your therapist and is my highest priority.

  • Attachment Lab does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. It is a privilege to provide EVERY client with excellent clinical care and, as an inclusive therapist, I consider it an honor to support the unique needs of clients who identify as members of traditionally marginalized communities including LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse individuals.

Rates, Insurance, and Scheduling

  • 50 minute individual sessions are $160 and 50 minute couples sessions are $175

  • I am an out-of-network provider, so payment for sessions is direct and due at the time of service. This allows you more confidentiality and freedom of choice in your sessions. Specifically, it avoids both a mental health diagnosis going on your permanent record AND insurance companies having access to your confidential records. I choose to work directly for you rather than contracting with insurance companies who have the final say in the amount of time they will cover your care.

However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t use your benefits. Some insurance plans reimburse out-of-network mental health appointment between 50% - 80% of the session cost - the rate of repayment is unique to your plan. I work with a service called Thrizer that utilizes a benefits calculator to help you instantly determine your out-of-network coverage. If you have benefits, I will automatically provide you with a superbill which is essentially a detailed receipt for services that contains all the information your insurance needs to reimburse you for appointments. You can choose to submit these superbills for repayment either directly to your insurance or through a patient portal via Thrizer for ease and convenience.

  • Have you ever reached the end of a session and felt annoyed because you were JUST getting somewhere when you had to stop? Extended sessions help alleviate this frustration by giving you more time to fully process (this is particularly useful for couples and those needing in-depth trauma work). 80 minute sessions are available upon request and are priced at $225 for individuals and $250 for couples.

I also offer longer intensives for those interested in getting a significant amount of therapeutic work done in an accelerated timeframe.  Please contact me directly for more information about intensive trauma and couples counseling sessions.

  • I value your time as a my client and hold your appointment time on my calendar exclusively for you, often when other potential clients are on a waitlist. To honor that time commitment, cancellations and re-scheduled session will be subject to a full charge if not received 48 hours in advance.

  • Throughout the year I offer a limited number of sessions at a 25% discount. Please reach out directly to learn more.

crisis

  • Attachment Lab does not provide crisis management services. Clients experiencing a mental health emergency can text or call 988 for 24/7 support and should visit the emergency room if experiencing an active crisis.
