FAQ

general

  • Going to therapy is a brave choice that showcases your resilience. It’s invaluable if you want to heal from painful experiences, grow towards a specific goal, explore your thoughts/feelings with an objective sounding board, clarify your sense of self, or understand your values and purpose. It can be especially helpful if you’re struggling with an ongoing issue that is negatively interfering with your life (for example, anxiety, high reactivity, overthinking, uncontrollable anger, etc.). Another indicator that you might benefit from it is if you want to get to the root of a persistent pattern or problem and are not sure how to do that by yourself or have tried before without success.

  • When applicable, I offer my clients practical tools and strategies to help them reach their goals. However, I don’t give direct advice because I’m not the person who has to live with the consequences of it (you are!). YOU are your own best advocate and the expert in your life. My job is to help you explore your options by acting as an objective sounding board and providing you with different ways of looking at your situation.

  • Yes. Privacy is a core ethical principle that therapists abide by, and I deeply value my client’s right to confidentiality. As a mandated reporter in Texas, I am obligated to uphold specific guidelines around reporting abuse or managing a client’s mental health crisis, and I make space to thoroughly discuss these policies in our first session.

Fees and insurance

  • 50 minute individual sessions at Attachment Lab are $170 and couples appointments are $190.

  • I am not in-network with insurance companies, so payment for sessions is direct and due at the time of service. This allows for more confidentiality and freedom of choice in counseling. Specifically, it avoids both a mental health diagnosis going on your permanent record AND insurance companies having access to your confidential records.

However, while I am a private pay provider, you may be able to use your benefits to pay for sessions. Many insurance plans reimburse out-of-network mental health appointments up to 50% - 80% of the session cost. The rate of repayment is unique to your plan and is an often overlooked benefit of coverage. I use technology designed to help you determine your out-of-network benefits and provide you with a superbill that you can submit for direct reimbursement.

  • This is often the case for couples and EMDR clients who need more time to adequately process. 80 minute sessions are available upon request and are priced at $200 for individuals and $220 for couples.

I also offer longer intensives for those interested in getting a significant amount of therapeutic work done in an accelerated timeframe.  Please contact me directly for more information about intensive trauma and couples counseling sessions.

  • Cancellations and re-scheduled session will be subject to a full charge if not received 48 hours in advance. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you.

  • I offer a limited number of sessions at a 25% discount. Please reach out for information about how we can make therapy affordable

crisis

  • Attachment Lab does not provide crisis management services. Clients experiencing a mental health emergency can text or call 988 for 24/7 support and should visit the emergency room if experiencing an active crisis.
