Trauma and Relationship Counseling in Central Dallas
Attachment Lab’s Story
Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Abigail, an English major turned professional mental health counselor who has retained her love of stories and their capacity to change the world. A survivor of my own relational trauma, it’s an honor to sit with you in your most painful chapters and help you make sense of your narrative with the same collaborative curiosity that was so transformational in my own life. Clients describe my approach as genuine, warm, and calming, with a healthy dose of directness and humor when the moment calls for it. A deeply relational person, I value adventure, travel, and learning when I’m not in the counselor seat.
Like me, you are a unique individual with a story. You are worthy of taking up space. Let’s create it together
Mission and Values
Your story is sacred and you own the copyright. Because I believe this so deeply, therapy speak and cliches are not my forte - I prefer genuine conversations and practical tools because I have been on your side of the couch and understand the risk you’re taking in being vulnerable.
You deserve therapy that is more than talk. While there are no quick fixes, my goal is to help you uncover your unique “why” for being here and support you in working towards tangible results and lasting transformation.
Why Attachment Therapy?
My Approach
As humans, we’re all innately wired for relationship, and we learn from the moment we’re born if it is safe to attach or not. If the messages we receive early on are frightening or shaming, we adapt ourselves to those surroundings to create safety or earn love and these survival strategies become our template for what connection looks like. The tricky thing? Those patterns don’t just vanish when we become adults: they seep into every area of life and work. Attachment therapy with me addresses those early life experiences, helps you heal what is still painful, and allows you to deconstruct your current patterns of behavior so you can rebuild an inner sense of safety, trust, and peace with yourself and your partner.
-Insight into the behavioral patterns that your/your partner’s emotions, thoughts, and nervous system operate in.
-Awareness about the root of these cycles and how grief, loss, and trauma impacted your/your partner’s sense of self and values.
-Understanding of your/your partner’s core relational needs and tools to help meet them effectively
-Repaired trust in yourself or your partner through reprocessing distressing memories, confronting negative belief systems, and practicing nervous system regulation
