CPTSD and Relationship Counseling in Uptown Dallas
Attachment Lab’s Story
Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Abigail, an English major turned attachment therapist who still adores stories and their capacity to change the world. An ongoing client of therapy myself, it’s an honor to sit with you in your most painful chapters and help you make sense of your narrative. Attachment Lab was built from the desire to heal traumas that are not talked about often in culture or the mental health field in general. Abuse within families and homeschool settings and trauma in romantic relationships are so often shrouded by silence and that makes recovery more lonely than it needs to be. My mission with Dallas-based attachment therapy is to give you space safe enough that your story can slow down, breathe, and be heard without judgement or the need to over-explain. I’m a survivor of relational abuse and loss myself, and my lived empathy puts me in a unique position to truly understand partner relationship trauma and homeschool abuse recovery. Clients describe my approach as genuine, warm, and calming, with a healthy dose of directness and humor when the moment calls for it.
Like me, you are a unique individual with a story. You are worthy of taking up space. Let’s create it together.
On a Personal Note..
I’m a human first and therapist second, which means I place a lot of importance on the relational aspect of therapy. While ours is a professional relationship, it’s important to me that you feel a sense of connection and care. When I’m not with clients or running my Dallas-based practice, you can probably find me convincing myself to go to the gym with the promise of a lil’ treat after or voice messaging a close friend. My guilty pleasures are watching absolutely every new horror movie that comes out and trying to find a new Italian restaurant to satisfy my endless pizza cravings (preferably both in the same day!). Travel is my love language (Egypt, Iceland, and Vietnam are next on my bucket list) and reading, poetry writing, and dance make me feel most alive.
Mission and Values
My Approach
As humans, we’re all innately wired for relationship, and we learn from the moment we’re born if it is safe to attach or not. If the messages we receive early on are frightening or shaming, we adapt ourselves to those surroundings to create safety or earn love and these survival strategies become our template for what connection looks like. The tricky thing? Those patterns don’t just vanish when we become adults: they seep into every area of life and work. Attachment therapy with me addresses those early life experiences and how they shape the issues you currently face in your relationship with yourself and your partner. Using integrative approaches, we help you heal what is still painful at root instead of managing symptoms.
Genuine Curiosity - I’m authentically interested in the story you bring into session. The questions I ask or reframes I offer are designed to help you pause, slow down, and dig deeper so you can notice themes and patterns underneath the surface. The world outside of session moves quickly and it’s easy to get reactive; therapy should be a place safe enough to reflect.
Actionable Insight - I’ll reflect what I’m hearing back to you from a different viewpoint or challenge your perspective to help you understand yourself and your options for growth better. You’ll have a narrative about yourself, others, and the world when you start treatment and my hope is to help you recognize different ways of interacting with your thoughts, feelings, and experiences so you can reach your goals.
Concrete Tools for Change, Minus the Judgment - I don’t have an agenda for you. You set the goals and we collaborate about the tools, skills, and approaches that work for you. Since I don’t have preconceived expectations for you, we are free to tailor our work to you specifically and feedback is always sought after and welcome.
