Premarital Counseling in Central Dallas
Build a Sustainable Roadmap to Lasting Love
Premarital Counseling in Uptown Dallas and Addison, TX.
Choosing a spouse is the most important decision you’ll make. All the thought, consideration, and emotional effort you’ve invested to get to this point shouldn’t end with picking a ring — you and your partner need a space that is dedicated to helping you build a realistic picture of what happens after the wedding is over.
Fulfilling relationships don’t happen by accident. The foundational areas of your marriage deserve to be approached with intention.
Topics in Premarital Counseling:
-Communication: identifying each person’s style and how they handle stress
-Conflict: exploring practical ways to build resolution skills
-Financial Management: defining mutual values around money
-Intimacy: discussing preferences and desires around sex
-Relationship Roles and Parenting Styles: clarifying expectations around gender dynamics in the marriage and the ethics of raising children
-Family Histories: creating maps of family histories and how they shaped individual personality traits and spiritual beliefs
-Goal Setting: compiling a list of dreams for the relationship
-Wedding Planning: easing stress around what can often be a taxing process
How Premarital Counseling Sets You up for Success
You and your partner know each other very well and are comfortable with how you relate and make decisions. My passion in collaborating with you is to offer the kind of insight into your dynamic that only comes with being a neutral third-party. The conversations we work through together will clarify the behaviors you want to take into your marriage and which you want to leave at the door and will also shed light on your individual needs in the relationship and practical ways to meet them. Using a blend of the Gottman Relationship Checkup assessment to identify the areas of strength and weakness in your dynamic and Prepare and Enrich curriculum to lean practical skills for a healthy foundation, my premarital therapy services in Uptown Dallas, Addison, and online throughout TX helps you both build a connection that you feel confident in.

While premarital therapy is often a service provided by churches, it is NOT inherently faith-based. I am happy to offer that approach if you and your partner request it, but that is not my default. Some of the materials I use may incorporate religious principles, but they are evidence-based and applicable to any belief system.

Absolutely! Premarital therapy is unique in that it takes a more structured approach than typical couples counseling and you can customize it to immediate goals. Many partners whose weddings are coming up opt for intensive sessions where the material is covered in an accelerated timeframe. Please reach out about intensive options and we can customize a package that works for you.

In order for insurance to cover any counseling service, a mental health diagnosis is required. There is no diagnosis that typically fits premarital work and therefore insurance typically doesn’t cover it. My private pay rate as an out-of-network provider is $175 for premarital counseling and 80 minute sessions are available for $250.
